Tantra, by its Sanskrit name (Tanoti=to expand, Trayati=to liberate), has been associated primarily with practices of ancient India and Tibet, but there are symbols from as far back as Palaeolithic Europe (c. 20,000 BC) which can be accurately matched with symbols still used today by Tantrikas, and it has evolved continuously from the remotest antiquity to the present day.

Often also interpreted as 'weaving' or a 'loom' because of its holistic, all-embracing approach, it weaves together all manners of experience in order to expand awareness, and conveys with extraordinary purity the essence of human symbolic expression. Tantric philosophy encompasses an enlightened attitude towards sexuality as an essential tool for integration, both within an individual, between partners, and in the universe itself.

This lecture explores Tantric Symbolism in relation to the universal human experience and modern living. Elena demonstrates how Tantra is a science, and its practice yields tangible results. She explains main principles and symbols, mainly drawing from Tantric Shaktism and Shaivism, how they refer to real-life circumstances, and puts forward practical and potent ways to apply these in order to enhance our health and well-being, sex, relationships, and creative endeavours.

Elena Angel (aka Dakini Shyama) is a practitioner and teacher of Tantra and Taoism. She offers intimacy and relationship coaching, as well as specific training and healing. Her work is based on Tantric and Taoist teachings and also uses psychotherapeutic and bioenergetic techniques, hypnosis, NLP, and diverse forms of psychosexual bodywork, meditative and energetic practice.

She frequently writes and lectures on Tantra and runs group workshops, including a Tantra Summer Retreat in the Peloponnese, Greece in August 2012.
